Gender Trainer, Afghanistan
Location: Kabul, Afghanistan
Duration 3 – 6 months
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Country Director, works to integrate gender and equal opportunity principles and practices into all of Internews’ work in Afghanistan. Provides training to media personnel in gender reporting. Carries out gender audits and action plans for all departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write gender reporting curriculum for Afghan context
- Run gender reporting training for media personnel
- Carry out preliminary assessment of media and gender in Afghanistan
- Run Training of Trainers in gender reporting
- Do a gender analysis of existing journalist training curricula
- Do a gender analysis of broadcast and print content of Internews and partners
- Give input into women’s radio program
- Create Action Plans for Internews departments in improving gender awareness
- Develop an Equal Opportunity policy for Internews
- Write Equal Opportunity curriculum and deliver it to managers of Internews and partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years programmatic experience in gender training and curriculum development
- Excellent analytical skills
- Radio/media experience
- Relevant Masters degree
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
- Ability to mentor staff
- Proficient in MS Office and Excel
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments
- Local language skills preferred
