South Asia Regional Manager
Location: Bangkok, Thailand

General Function:

The Regional Manager manages and oversees Internews Network media development programs and projects in South Asia.  As a geographic region, South Asia covers all the sub-continent countries where Internews currently has projects including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India and where it may have projects in the future, including Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan and Mongolia. Management Responsibilities for this position include management of staff, liaison with donors, oversight of Internews Network grants, operations, and program development in the specified region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee region’s long term and short-term country, regional, or ad-hoc programs;
  • As assigned, coordinate or supervise in-region thematic or global programs such as health, environment or humanitarian programs;
  • Coordinate with the Internews’ regional SEA office in BKK which serves as a hub for Asia-wide programs;
  • Manage internal communications and information resources for region’s programs;
  • Coordinate and track business management (including burn rates, projections, procurements and obligations) with management team including VP Asia programs and Asia Business Manager;
  • Manage reporting requirements on Internews Network projects to donors;
  • Assist region’s Vice President in program development, including project design, proposal writing, donor relations;
  • Oversee region’s program logistics and operations for program set-up, renewal, and close-out, as necessary;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Fiduciary and Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all projects are in compliance with all grant and cooperative agreement rules, requirements and regulations as well as with Internews internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all subgrants and production grants are in compliance with all grant and cooperative agreement rules, requirements and regulations as well as with Internews internal policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary budget authority over all regional and country projects in your area of responsibility, and b e responsible for ensuring all costs charged to the project are allowable, reasonable and correctly allocated.

Essential Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise Country Directors, Project Directors and COPs designated as reporting to the RM in the region. 
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Prior senior management experience administering multiple internationally-funded grants
  • Direct experience in or expert knowledge of the current primary project media: television, radio, print, and/or Internet.
  • Since the RM is primarily responsible for efficient and effective financial, personnel and programmatic management of programs under his/her guidance, previous skills or experience in management are required.
  • Regional professional expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relevant university degree required; advanced degree highly desirable.
  • Language fluency in one of the languages of the region is highly desirable.
