Background:

Internews® Network is an international media development organization based in Arcata, CA and Washington, D.C. whose mission is to empower people worldwide with the news and information they need, the ability to connect, and the means to make their voices heard.

General Function:

Internews Network is seeking candidates for Chief of Party for a potential media development program in Armenia, with an emphasis on alternative media. The Chief of Party will provide strategic guidance and leadership to Internews' programs. This is a phenomenal opportunity for a motivated creative person to work with an existing team of very talented media professionals to expand the reach of their work, help traditional media experiment productively with new formats and new content and build bridges to the citizen media community both in the country and globally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist traditional media producers, including youth TV producers, to more effectively use a variety of online and social media in their work
  • Design and develop joint projects to leverage the relative strengths of non-professional/participatory and traditional media
  • Identify and evaluate technical solutions for non-traditional distribution that make sense in the local environment (internet, podcast, mobile, etc)
  • Establish strong local and international partnerships and dialogue with the appropriate donor representatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of both technical and editorial facility with a variety of networked digital media tools, including one or more popular CMSes, blogging platforms, online video distribution, data visualization and mapping tools, podcasting, social networking, mobile and mobile-to-web applications
  • Strong interest in promoting high-quality content in a variety of formats and venues
  • A flexible creative approach
  • Experience working in international environments and a strong commitment to developing local
    capacity.
  • Armenian and/or Russian language skills preferred
  • Experience in non-profit management, especially in a non-US context and/or with USAID grants, highly desirable
  • Prior work experience in an international organization, preferably as the manager of the program
