Broadcast Journalism Advisor - Afghanistan
Background:
Internews® Network is an international media development organization based in Arcata, CA and Washington, DC whose mission is to empower local media worldwide to give people the news and information they need, the ability to connect, and the means to make their voices heard.
General Function:
Internews Network is currently seeking a broadcast journalism advisor. The selected candidates will be responsible for training and mentoring in broadcasting skills, journalism and programming for journalists and radio stations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with local partners in Afghanistan to develop curriculum;
- Works with journalists and radio stations to review and develop skills and assist in implementation of programming changes;
- Works with provincial media to implement specialized trainings such as elections coverage, agriculture, and youth and community development;
- Prepares courses, trains and coaches national trainers to deliver courses;
- Delivers training;
- Prepares and assembles materials for monthly and quarterly reports, in compliance with donor and Country Director guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Broadcast journalism, and information program experience
- Experience training in a developing media environment
- Course design experience
- Experience living and working in a developing country
- Ability to handle multi-faceted programs with staff and partner organizations
- Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the work place.
- Qualification in a relevant field
