Youth Media Project Manager - Afghanistan

Background:
Internews® Network is an international media development organization based in Arcata, CA and Washington, DC whose mission is to empower local media worldwide to give people the news and information they need, the ability to connect, and the means to make their voices heard.
General Function:
Internews Network is seeking a Youth Media Project Manager to a) oversee the review and expansion of youth radio programming on the Internews Salam Watandar national radio service and on partner local radio stations and b) to manage a national youth media festival. The selected candidate will work closely with Internews local partner Nai, local radio station staff, and other Internews training and management staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Salam Watandar staff and other Internews trainers to review, redesign and mentor new youth programming on Internews’ national radio service.
- Work with Nai and Internews trainers to develop training materials on youth programming, deliver train-the-trainer workshops to Nai training staff, and assist Nai training staff to work with partner radio stations on their youth programming.
- Manage, with Nai staff, all aspects of a national multimedia youth media festival.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Substantial youth media experience, preferably in development/post-conflict contexts.
- Substantial experience in developing and delivering training materials.
- Substantial media production experience, preferably across multiple mediums.
- Understanding of issues faced by youth in development/post-conflict contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex programs, while working with multiple staff and partner organizations, and involving innovative problem-solving.
- Experience living and working in development and post-conflict contexts.
- Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the work place.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, preferred.
