September 20, 2007 Powerful Journalism for Better Public Health
Dear Friend, Access to accurate health information saves lives. Yet millions of people around the world can’t depend on their local radio station or newspaper to provide factual, easily understandable information and analysis. Many journalists don’t have the training or resources to cover health topics, and many editors do not see health issues as sufficiently newsworthy. For more than five years, Internews has improved the frequency and quality of media reporting and programming on HIV/AIDS, malaria, avian flu, and other critical health issues around the world through its Local Voices health journalism program. As always, we welcome your comments. Sincerely, Annette Makino Local Voices Convenes Global Staff in Nairobi
