Jerker Torngren - e-gov conference in Macedonia

I arrive in the office around 8.00 am after a nice walk from my rented house here in Skopje. After a quick cup of coffee and checking the emails I take a stroll around the office to have a chat individually with my dear colleagues. It is a good way of checking that things are well with them and discuss their plans for the day.

A typical day for me contains a minimum of two, three external meetings with state institutions, with software developers or with other relevant parties. A fair amount of time must be spent on working through the development and implementation of the new e-Gov applications. As with any projects that attempt to turn a bureaucratic public administration into an efficient and transparent service provider, challenges pop up from time to time. Nevertheless, change would not be radical without the challenges and I must admit that once we have dealt with them our results are even more rewarding.

After the official office hours I get some quiet time behind my desk to plan for new initiatives and applications to be undertaken by the project. A nice walk back home provides good relaxation at the end of the day.
