Strengthening Health Journalism in Countries with Health Crises

As part of its continued focus on improving support for health journalism worldwide, Internews Network, together with Panos London and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), is a founding partner of the Health Journalism Partnership, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Knight Foundation and the Open Society Institute.

The Health Journalism Partnership is designed to build support for health journalism in countries with the most acute public health crises. Currently in its pilot phase, the Health Journalism Partnership documents existing programs to support and improve health journalism, raises awareness of the need to build media capacity to address public health issues with critical analysis and professional standards, distributes small grants in developing countries, and solicits additional support from interested donors.

The Health Journalism Partnership web site houses a database of global health journalism support activities and showcases health journalism resources and analyses of the state of health journalism in various countries.
