Using the Media to Combat HIV/AIDS: Internews' Programs Worldwide

As a media organization that works with radio and TV stations and newspapers around the world, Internews is uniquely positioned to harness the power of the media to respond effectively to the AIDS epidemic. Having trained over 29,000 media professionals and worked with over 2400 media outlets, Internews understands the many obstacles that journalists and media managers face in covering AIDS issues. Internews programs aim to address these obstacles in a comprehensive way so that local media are equipped with the resources and skills necessary to take on the complex issue of HIV/AIDS for years to come.

Internews’ Nairobi offices house a media resource center which contains over 2,000 publications on HIV/AIDS, as well as five computers with high-speed Internet access which journalists can use to research and digitally edit radio stories on HIV/AIDS.
