Internews Turns 25!
Internews Network will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2007, marking a quarter-century of fostering independent media and access to information worldwide.
To
honor this milestone, Internews has launched a new
web site.
The site features moving personal stories of journalists, photographers,
TV producers and others who are using media as a catalyst for change.
By nurturing dedicated people like these in 70 countries to date, Internews continues the work it began in 1982 through its pioneering televised “spacebridges” linking Americans and Soviets for uncensored discussions. The goal remains constant: to use communications technologies to improve understanding and to empower people around the world.
Internews® Network is an international non-profit organization that works to improve access to information for people around the world by fostering independent media and promoting open communications policies in the public interest. Internews programs are built on the conviction that providing people with access to vibrant, diverse news and information empowers them to participate effectively in their communities, effect positive social change, improve their living standards, and make their voices heard. Formed in 1982, Internews has worked in 70 countries and currently has offices in 23 countries.
