Fika: Media and Information Flow in Nola
Fika is a weekly coffee hour open to everyone, hosted at The Blue House every Thursday at 10am. This week on February 16, we'll be hosting a special Fika in collaboration with the Democracy Fund and the New Orleans Listing Post about media, information flow, and how to create a more informed New Orleans.
If you are interested in attending, please RSVP.
We are gathering media professionals, community members, and civic organizations from around the city to exchange ideas about the flow of local news and information in New Orleans. Jason Alcorn (Democracy Fund) and Jesse Hardman (Listening Post / Internews) will lead a workshop exploring who is providing news and information in the city, how information is being shared, and whose information needs are not being met.
The Democracy Fund is a bipartisan foundation established by eBay founder and philanthropist Pierre Omidyar to help ensure that the American people come first in our democracy.
The Listening Post is a community media project that creates a conversation around local news in New Orleans using cell phones, public signs, and roving recording devices to capture and share voices, information, and opinions from around New Orleans.
